Extinct...or are they?

So i heard that scientists may attempt to bring back the tasmanian tiger. (for any one who doesnt know) the tasmanian tiger is a large marsupial native to tasmania. Its believed to have gone extinct in 1936 where the supposed last one died in a zoo. Although there have been reported sightings since then, but very rare. These were common around the start of the century but were killed off... mostly for protection of live stock. So man took this animal's life into his hands and killed them to save his precious sheep...should this mean that because we killed them off, scientists should bring them back? is this taking things into our own hands again...or does this somehow lead back to god..is he letting us make up for our mistakes?? or is it just a push for technology? to see just what we can do.how far we can go before we do something royally stupid. I only heard the jist of it but somehow the recreation of the tasmanian tiger involves using its closely related relative, the tasmanian devil. I dunno.. i have mixed feelings on this. for one, its a little strange thinking how we may be able to bring an animal that has been gone for so long, back to life.. i'd hate to see what weird things may develope in their trials to recreate the tasmanian tiger.. i feel like it could be kind of evil. like frankenstein type deal.. what else are they going to create after this?? but at the same time there's kind of an excitement about it. just knowing that people of my generation will be able to see an animal again that was wiped off this earth about 66 years ago is kind of neat...
i dunno but if anyone knows anymore about this or has an opinion feel free to drop it by me

I heard the same thing, well sorta. I heard about them trying to repopulate the white tiggers using just one tigger and inbreeding. pretty gross. But the other thing is using wooly manoth DNA and tring to get an elephant to give brith to a manoth.
it is pretty strange. But i think the scientist are just seeing what they can do. I just hope they don't go too far.

broken glass?
when someone breaks a glass, they usually feel inclined to repair or replace the glass. When man forces an animal to extinction, should they try to replace the species? I could be persuaded to agree with both sides of the discussion in certain aspects. I myself would, however, like to see this wonderful creature reintroduced to the wild of Tazmania.

I think an easier, cheaper way...
...would be to stop chopping down, destroying, clearfelling all the old growth forests and other natural habitats in Tassie and letting the Tasmanian Tiger (Which should be called a Tasmanian Wolf, or Thylacine for the sake of picking) keep its habitat, so it can recover and breed up again so that they are easier to spot so more people can be sure they are not extinct! (yes, I've been brainwashed!)

I don
I don't think that the Tassie devil is actually closely related to the thylacine. a couple of years ago we studied the whole conceptof 'bringing back the Tasmanian tiger' in class at school. There were definitely mixed feeling about whether is was ethically and morally right. A lot of people thought that is was wrong to 'play god' - yet another group thought that it was a good idea to 'right wrongs'. Personally I think that it may be dangerous to meddle with the past in such a manner - especially since the animal would never really be 'wild' again - simply a similar and slightly more domesticated version of it's former self because of the way it would be brought up. Even if scientists could make the animal 'wild' again - there is again the possibility that the same problems could arise and livestock threatened. In that case, why create life if all you are going to do is destroy it?
There are no definite answers as to what would happen, it's all very uncertain, but when concerning life, is it worth taking this kind of risk? One of the biggest fears of society is to create suffering. If it were humans the matter would be taken all the more seriously.
